New Jersey residents now have access to the most advanced technology
available for cancer diagnosis and treatment in a setting designed for
comfort, healing and personalized patient care. The new Trinitas
Comprehensive Cancer Center, located on Trinitas Regional Medical Center's main campus at
225 Williamson Street, Elizabeth, was officially dedicated on Tuesday,
September 13, 2005. The five-story, $28 million building houses the
Hospital's state-of-the-art Medical and Radiation Oncology programs, the
latest equipment, and a host of additional supportive services designed to
enhance the patient experience. The Center features two Varian Linear
Accelerators, including Varian's new Trilogy™ Linear Accelerator, the first
of its kind in New Jersey and New York City. This new technology combines
image-guided radiation therapy and radiosurgery and is designed to enhance
accuracy, minimize side effects and shorten treatment.
International recording star Gloria Gaynor celebrated the occasion with a
rendition of her signature offering, "I Will Survive." Other honored guests
included US Rep. Robert Menendez (NJ-13), US Rep. Donald Payne (NJ-10), New
Jersey Assembly member Joseph Cryan (D-20) and Elizabeth Mayor J. Christian
Bollwage. Gary Horan, President and CEO of Trinitas Regional Medical Center, and John S.
Macdonald, MD, Chief Medical Officer for Aptium Oncology, also spoke.
Hospital administration and Board members, together with physicians,
employees, community representatives and other officials were in attendance.
Further enhancing cancer care at Trinitas is a new partnership with Aptium
Oncology - a pioneer in the development and management of comprehensive
outpatient cancer centers.
