As the US observed American Heart Month in February, Trinitas Regional Medical Center held events and activities to raise awareness about prevention of heart disease, stroke and other cardiovascular diseases.

Two comprehensive seminars highlighted the month's activities. These included a seminar on February 2nd entitled "Living Successfully With Heart Failure," featuring Arthur Millman, MD, Chairman of Cardiology, as speaker. Talented students from Holy Spirit School, Union, provided a musical selection of songs "from the heart." A second program was held on February 16th and featured Peter Lenchur, MD, and Kerry Cowart, RD, discussing the topic, "Cholesterol - What Do your Numbers Mean?" At both programs Trinitas staff provided free cholesterol screenings.

A third program, held on February 20th, was a "Heart Healthy Cooking Demonstration," by Luciele White, RD and Chris DiBiase, Executive Chef.

On February 2nd, "National Wear Red Day," and every Friday during the month of February, all employees were encouraged to wear red in support of the American Heart Association's campaign to create awareness about the high rate of heart disease among women and the steps women can take to make life style changes to prevent heart disease.
