Helping Cancer Patients Look Their Best
To help women who are facing one of the toughest struggles of their lives,
Trinitas Comprehensive Cancer Center hosts the "Look Good...Feel Better"
program. The highly successful program helps women who are undergoing cancer
treatment to look into a mirror and take charge of their outward image by
offering practical beauty tips along with strong doses of self-confidence.
Thanks to a partnership of the American Cancer Society (ACS), the National
Cosmetology Association, and the Cosmetic, Toiletry & Fragrance Association
(CTFA) Foundation, Trinitas offers cancer patients tips and techniques that
they can use everyday. CTFA member companies provide assorted skin care and
make-up products, free of charge, licensed cosmetologists demonstrate the
use of these products and application techniques, and an ACS volunteer
offers helpful information about wigs and accessories for women who have
experienced hair loss due to chemotherapy.
At the recent "Look Good...Feel Better" session, the participants shared
some of their personal experiences battling cancer. Each of the women came
away from the experience energized and revitalized, not only because of the
practical tools and knowledge they received, but because of the support and
encouragement they gave to one another.
