TRINITAS HOSPITAL CHANGES NAME TO TRINITAS REGIONAL MEDICAL CENTER
Having obtained official approval, Trinitas Hospital announces the official change of its name to Trinitas Regional Medical Center, effective immediately.

To reflect its growth and expanded capabilities, the Board of Trustees of Trinitas Hospital voted in July to change the institution’s name. The new identity recognizes the status of Trinitas as a regional healthcare provider and reflects the broad range of services available at the facility, according to Gary S. Horan, FACHE, President and Chief Executive Officer.

"During this decade, the positive changes that have taken place at Trinitas are unprecedented," Mr. Horan said, adding that, "Trinitas offers a more extensive array of services, more technological advancements and a broader range of expertise for more members of the Central and Northern New Jersey community than ever before."

Trinitas was established in January, 2000 following the consolidation of two Elizabeth hospitals, Elizabeth General Medical Center and St. Elizabeth Hospital. "In just eight years, Trinitas has grown to become a provider that reaches a greater number of people than the two previous hospitals combined," Mr. Horan explained. The institution continues to be sponsored by the Sisters of Charity of Saint Elizabeth in partnership with Elizabethtown Healthcare Foundation.

In 2007 Trinitas admitted over 17,000 patients, treated more than 60,000 emergencies, and provided over 300,000 outpatient treatments. In addition to its 531 beds located in two major Elizabeth campuses, Trinitas has a healthcare presence throughout the state with nearly 100 locations. With a staff of more than 2,400 employees and a medical staff of close to 500 physicians, Trinitas Regional Medical Center is one of the largest employers in Central New Jersey. A teaching hospital, Trinitas Regional Medical Center offers highly specialized care through ten Centers of Excellence.

Trinitas' excellent staff, teamwork and workplace environment were recognized recently by AARP and NJBIZ, both naming the facility among the best places to work in the state. NJBIZ honored Trinitas with the "Best Place to Work in New Jersey" designation for each of the last three years.

"This is an exciting time for Trinitas and for health care in New Jersey. Our new name more accurately represents the level of health care we provide as we move forward to meet an ever-growing number of health needs in our region. The degree to which we accomplish these objectives will ultimately determine the value of the Trinitas Regional Medical Center name," Mr. Horan said.
